Sunday Skull Session

News Review

This week has had its share of highs and lows, with the world’s bigotry still in plain sight to all who care to see, but limited by those who choose to do so.

  1. George Christensen refused to speak to a journalist about his anti-abortion agenda
  2. After 110 Nigerian girls were abducted by armed men in Dapchi, a “truther” movement has started to suggest that the abduction was fake.
  3. Australian politicians have continued to refuse to take an anti-harassment course
  4. An American Airlines flight attendant called the police because a white woman was “made uncomfortable” by a “fat and black” female passenger seated beside her.
  5. A mother was denied a final visit to her dying son, and was then arrested, for sitting outside the hospital. Three days later, she still had not been allowed to see her son’s body.
  6. Janelle Monáe came out as pansexual.
  7. The alleged Golden State Killer (Joseph James DeAngelo) was arrested.
  8. Abba got back together.
  9. Bill Cosby was found guilty, but may not serve any jail time.
  10. North and South Korean leaders have signed a declaration promising “complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula” and an end to the Korean war, but there are still fears about the reality of the situation.

Schedule

With my return to school fast approaching in the upcoming week, I kept the spread simple and precise.

Last week, I discovered that I didn’t need as much space to record tasks for the following week, so I reduced it to add in a “May goals” section, which is the only reason I would actually create a monthly spread, as I have a tendency not to use them.

I went with a pink theme this week, mostly because I have pink graph tape which I could use for the calendar in the top corner. It also still almost fits in with the “fall” theme.

Poem

tw for the content below: self-harm, suicidal tendencies.

This week’s poem is “I do not know who I am”. It is about youth life and the constant pressure to know who we are and what we want to do, when really, all we need is a moral compass and some passion. You can check out more of my poetry on my writing Tumblr, or click the photo to see this poem there.

A quick favour: if you liked this post, please share this – I even made a feature image for you! You may not think so, but I’m just starting out and every little helps! I am keeping the Skull Sessions as a staple, so if you did like it, please drop in next week to see more of this content.fullsizeoutput_5ef.jpeg

Look to the present with the future in mind, and to the future with the past in mind.

What is a skull session? A skull session is a meeting for discussion and sharing information and ideas, which is a pretty cool way to sum up what I’m trying to achieve (yeah, yeah, my emo teen is coming out I know).
